Gail Reese Ward, 53, formerly of Norman died Sunday, Nov. 23, in Flower Mound, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Norman. The date was incorrectly reported in Sunday's Transcript.

Dr. Ward was born Nov. 13, 1950, in Norman, to Dr. Jim Eanes and Sarah Burton Reese. She graduated from Norman High School in 1969. She completed a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1973, earned a M.A. in counseling from the University of Colorado and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of New Mexico in 1990. She married Linton D. Ward in 1979. Dr. Ward worked for the career counseling office at the University of Oklahoma from 1976-79. She was director of Diversity in Engineering Programs at the University of New Mexico. She was coordinator of the Women's Leadership Symposium at Southern Methodist University from 1999 until she died. Dr. Ward's family said she was a much-beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend.

Dr. Ward was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband, Linton Ward of the home; mother, Sarah Reese of Norman; brothers, John W. Reese and wife, Linda, of Norman and James B. Reese of Phoenixville, Pa.; and sister, Carolyn Reese Morris.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
